The park itself is truly beautiful, as it's situated right on the banks of the Trinity River. The views are incredible and, because it's far away from light pollution and large cities, the stars at night are unbelievably bright!

Their telescope setup provides an excellent opportunity for amateur astronomers like me to observe our solar system in greater detail! Plus, their dark observation deck allows you to take high-quality pictures of every star formation you may encounter throughout your journey.

The location is perfect - right near the freeway so you can access it easily, but far enough away so the city lights don't interfere. Plus, the view of downtown Houston adds to the beautiful atmosphere! The spot has a large, open area where there are many benches and chairs to sit on and appreciate the stars above.
The stars I saw were truly magnificent! The best part is that Waugh Drive Bat Colony makes for some of the best stargazing in Houston. There's no light pollution from other cities or artificial lighting which means that you can see clearly even on moonless nights. With clear visibility, I was able to observe constellations such as Orion's Belt and Cassiopeia.
Waugh Drive Bat Colony is also ideal for groups - both small and large. There are plenty of areas to sit down and picnic without obstructing anyone else’s viewing experience. For those who get hungry while stargazing, there's a snack bar nearby with all your favorites!
Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with my visit to Waugh Drive Bat Colony! Not only was it peaceful and serene but the starry sky above me was simply breathtaking! It quickly became one of my go-to stargazing spots in Houston whenever I get a chance to come home.
